The Dr's Waiting Room
I received a letter. More an invitation really.
75 year olds here have to attend a clininc to get a med certificate to continue driving.
As I entered the Dr’s waiting room I was followed by a little old lady guiding her grown son in his electric wheelchair. He didn’t appear to be aware of his surroundings.
We waited. Suddenly he snored and she tried to to sooth him. I said “it’s ok I snore too” And she smiled, stroked his cheek and relaxed.
He snored again and faintly grinned.
After my appt I thougt back to this encounter with a young man that had no chance to experience life as I have. School. Puberty. Love. Dispair. Sunburn. Marriage. Fear. Success. Failure. Bereavment. Retirement. Cancer Diagnosis.
I am so grateful to have lived a fulfilled and healthy life with all it’s ups and downs.
So grateful

I am from the UK and have had the fortune and misfortune to have had the same life experiences.
Yes, I try to remind myself of this on occasions such as you saw. We have to count our blessings, even if we have not had the most perfect life. And “give thanks”!
